| The oldest monument in the Church building.
The inscription above states as follows:- 'Robert Rampston of Chingford in the County of Essex gent deceased as he was carefull in his life tyme to releve the poore soe att his ende by his Testament he gave xx11 1 yerely forever to the poore of divers parishes and prysons whereof to the poore of this parish of Chigwell he hath given yerely forever x1 s To be paid in ye month of November He departed this mortal lyfe the third day of August 1585'.
